Chromebook Deployment Services for K-12 Student Technology Refresh
White Glove Chromebook Configuration and District-Wide Deployment for a Maryland Public School System
Supporting a Large-Scale Student Device Refresh Initiative
This Maryland public school system required a comprehensive deployment strategy to support a large-scale Chromebook refresh across its schools. With thousands of student devices scheduled for rollout, the district needed a partner capable of handling device staging, configuration, inventory management, deployment logistics, and retirement of older equipment while ensuring every Chromebook was ready for classroom use upon arrival.
The project involved the deployment of 2,559 Dell Chromebooks, including 2,497 Dell Chromebook 3110 Non-Touch devices and 62 Dell Chromebook 3110 Touch devices. To minimize the burden on district technology staff, the school system sought a turnkey white glove deployment solution that would streamline device preparation, ensure consistency across all units, and accelerate delivery to end users.

Data Networks partnered with the district to provide comprehensive Chromebook deployment services, helping ensure students received fully configured and classroom-ready devices while maintaining accurate inventory tracking and deployment records.
Chromebook Deployment Services Streamline Device Readiness
As part of the engagement, Data Networks provided end-to-end Chromebook deployment services from its Configuration and Staging Center. Each device underwent a detailed quality assurance process that included verification of shipping contents, serial number validation, inspection for shipping damage, and confirmation that all hardware matched manufacturer packing documentation.
Once verified, Data Networks technicians configured and enrolled each Chromebook into the district’s Google Workspace environment using customer-provided credentials. Devices were upgraded to the latest ChromeOS version where necessary and validated within the appropriate organizational units (OUs) for elementary, middle, and high school deployments.

The team also verified wireless network settings, confirmed SSID and authentication configurations, and ensured all devices met district standards prior to deployment. Asset management services included the application of district-provided inventory stickers and the creation of electronic inventory reports containing serial numbers and deployment information for all devices.
By leveraging structured Chromebook deployment services, the district received devices that were fully configured, enrolled, labeled, and prepared for immediate use upon arrival at school locations.
Delivering Classroom-Ready Devices and Managing Legacy Equipment
Following configuration, Data Networks packaged devices according to district deployment plans and delivered them to designated school locations. Onsite technicians installed the Chromebooks into existing charging carts, verified charging functionality, and performed quality control checks to confirm proper operation.
The deployment included loading the correct quantity of devices into each cart based on district requirements and validating that charging infrastructure and cabling were functioning properly. This approach ensured that teachers and students could begin using the devices immediately without requiring additional setup by school personnel.
In addition to deploying the new devices, Data Networks assisted with the retirement of previously deployed Chromebooks. Legacy devices were removed from existing carts, inventoried, palletized, and prepared for recycling or resale through approved district partners. This process helped the district efficiently manage its technology lifecycle while maintaining accurate inventory records.
The completed Chromebook deployment project enabled the school system to successfully refresh thousands of student devices while reducing administrative overhead and deployment complexity. Through a combination of white glove configuration, Google Workspace enrollment, inventory management, onsite installation, and device retirement services, Data Networks delivered a streamlined deployment process that supported student learning and ensured technology readiness across the district.
