APC Battery Backup Deployment with Juniper Mist Wireless Upgrade for Reliable Power and Connectivity

This Adult Education Center (AEC) within a Maryland-based religious organization was facing reliability challenges across both its network and power infrastructure. Inconsistent Wi-Fi coverage was impacting daily operations, while outdated uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems failed to provide adequate battery backup for critical equipment. These gaps increased the risk of downtime, disrupted productivity, and potential data loss during power events. To stabilize operations, the organization required professional UPS installation services alongside a targeted network upgrade.

Data Networks implemented a combined power protection and network modernization solution designed to enhance both connectivity and system resilience. The project focused on deploying new APC UPS systems to ensure reliable backup power, while also upgrading core networking components to improve wireless performance and manageability.

The engagement began with a review of the existing environment, followed by the preparation of standardized configurations for both switching and wireless infrastructure using the Juniper Mist cloud platform. A new Juniper EX4100-F-12P switch and Juniper Mist AP45 access point were provisioned and configured to align with organizational standards, ensuring seamless integration and improved visibility into network operations.

As part of the wireless network enhancement, Data Networks replaced the existing switch and access point at the AEC. The switch was securely installed within the facility’s supply closet, and the access point was strategically mounted to optimize coverage across the primary learning area. Connectivity to the Mist cloud platform was verified, and WLAN performance was validated to ensure a consistent and reliable user experience.

A key component of the project was the delivery of UPS installation services at the Parrish office. Data Networks deployed three new APC UPS systems, positioning them to support critical workstations and equipment. Each device was carefully transitioned to the new power infrastructure, with systems gracefully powered down, reconnected, and restarted to avoid disruption or data loss. Post-installation testing confirmed proper UPS functionality, ensuring systems would remain operational during power interruptions.

The upgraded solution was integrated into Data Networks’ Managed IT Services framework, enabling ongoing monitoring, support, and maintenance to sustain long-term performance.

As a result, the organization now benefits from dependable UPS installation services combined with a modernized network environment, delivering improved uptime, stronger power resilience, and enhanced wireless connectivity for staff and students.
