The Challenge: Reliable Wireless Coverage for Industrial and Office Environments

This local growing roofing and fabrication company was constructing a new facility to support expanded office operations, warehouse functions, and metal fabrication services. To ensure the new building could support day-to-day business activities from the moment it opened, the organization required a modern networking solution with secure wired connectivity and reliable wireless coverage throughout the facility.

Providing consistent wireless connectivity in industrial environments introduced several challenges. Office personnel required dependable Wi-Fi for standard business applications, while warehouse and fabrication teams needed strong wireless coverage capable of supporting mobility and operational workflows in large open areas with metal infrastructure and equipment.

In addition, the new building needed to integrate seamlessly with the company’s existing campus network to maintain uninterrupted communication between locations. The roofing company required scalable warehouse wireless access points and enterprise networking infrastructure capable of supporting current operations and future growth.

The Solution: Warehouse Wireless Access Points with Enterprise Network Infrastructure

Data Networks delivered a complete networking solution centered around deploying high-performance warehouse wireless access points and secure wired connectivity throughout the new facility.

The implementation included:

• One (1) 48-port PoE+ Ethernet switch
• Seven (7) internal wireless access points
• Two (2) external wireless access points for warehouse and fabrication environments

The project began with detailed planning and network design services to define VLAN structures, IP addressing, SSIDs, and wireless security requirements. Data Networks engineers developed a comprehensive deployment strategy to ensure reliable wireless performance across office, warehouse, and production areas.

Prior to onsite installation, the networking equipment was staged and pre-configured at the Data Networks Staging Center. The engineering team configured the wired and wireless environment within the Mist management platform and tested the switch and wireless configurations to validate functionality before deployment.

At the roofing company site, Data Networks installed the new PoE+ Ethernet switch within the client-provided rack infrastructure and connected it to the existing campus network uplink. The team then installed the wireless access points throughout the office space, warehouse, and metal fabrication areas to provide seamless wireless coverage across the facility.

Once installation was complete, Data Networks performed comprehensive testing to confirm LAN, WAN, WLAN, and internet connectivity, ensuring all network components operated within specifications.
