White Glove Deployment Services for Student Laptop Rollout
Imaging, Configuration, and Deployment of 400 Laptops for K-12 Public School System
Streamlining a Large-Scale Student Device Deployment
This Maryland public school system needed an efficient and scalable approach to prepare hundreds of new student laptops for deployment across its high schools. With a large volume of devices requiring imaging, configuration, inventory management, and domain integration, the district sought a solution that would reduce the workload on internal IT staff while ensuring every device was ready for immediate use upon arrival.
The project involved the deployment of 400 Dell Latitude 3140 laptops, all of which needed to be configured according to district standards before being delivered directly to school locations. In addition to imaging and device preparation, the district required asset tagging, inventory reporting, Active Directory integration, and quality assurance testing to support a smooth rollout.

To meet these requirements, the district partnered with Data Networks to provide comprehensive white glove deployment services that would transform newly delivered hardware into fully configured, classroom-ready devices.
White Glove Deployment Ensures Consistency and Device Readiness
As part of the engagement, Data Networks delivered end-to-end white glove deployment services through its Configuration Center. The project began with a detailed review of the district’s master image and technical specifications. Data Networks engineers worked closely with district personnel to validate image readiness, confirm deployment requirements, and perform testing before production imaging began.

Once approved, the district’s master image was replicated across all 400 Dell Latitude 3140 laptops using industry-standard imaging tools. Each device underwent validation testing to ensure the image was successfully deployed and operating according to district standards.
The deployment process included verification of shipping documentation and serial numbers, inspection of devices for shipping damage, image installation, troubleshooting of any imaging or hardware issues, and coordination with manufacturer support when necessary. This structured approach ensured consistent configuration across all devices while minimizing deployment risks.
By leveraging professional white glove deployment services, the district was able to accelerate its technology rollout while ensuring a high level of quality control and configuration accuracy.
Delivering Fully Configured, Domain-Joined Devices
Following imaging, Data Networks completed a series of deployment and configuration tasks designed to prepare the laptops for immediate use by students and staff. Each laptop was assigned a device name according to district naming conventions, joined to the Active Directory domain, and tested to verify successful authentication and network connectivity.
The project also included adding designated administrator accounts, validating system settings, applying customer-provided asset tags, and generating electronic inventory reports for all deployed equipment. Detailed inventory tracking helped the district maintain accurate asset records and streamline device management after deployment.
To further simplify distribution, Data Networks prepared devices for direct shipment to the designated high schools and labeled each package according to district requirements. Quality assurance checks were performed throughout the staging process to ensure that every laptop functioned properly before leaving the Configuration Center.
The completed white glove deployment project provided the district with 400 fully configured Dell Latitude 3140 laptops that were imaged, asset tagged, domain joined, inventoried, and ready for immediate classroom use. Through comprehensive deployment services, Data Networks helped the school system reduce administrative burden, improve deployment efficiency, and ensure a successful technology rollout for students and educators.
