Low Access Data Migration to Cloud-Hosted File Services for North Carolina Water Utility Agency

In September, a Data Networks’ water utility customer located in North Carolina discovered a need to reduce the overhead on their block storage, preferably moving their vast amount of archived data to a cheaper and higher capacity storage solution. Data Networks recommended leveraging Azure Hybrid Benefit from their Microsoft and Azure Tenant to move low access data off the high-performance data block to make room for applications and data which required access to IOPS. The Azure file services implemented by the Data Networks team not only met the customer’s specified compliance criteria by deploying a cloud-hosted SMB file service that synchronized data with on-premises storage- but it also secured the customer’s data and provided a user-friendly archive management system.
